Lesson 1: Innovation Concepts
Lessons 1 to 3 of Chapter 1 explain ISO 56000 which is the standard that opens the Innovation Management series of standards. Lesson 4 of Chapter 1 will outline ISO 56002 which is explained in detail in Chapters 2 through to 7 of the course. ISO 56002 provides the guidance on how to develop your Innovation Management System and take you to ISO 56001 certification.
Lesson 1 introduces ISO 56000 and explains how innovation has become critical in today’s world as a result of rapid change and the rapid growth in knowledge. It explains the impact that innovation has had on our lives and the benefits to an organization when it engages in innovation. The different approaches to innovation are introduced. This lesson also introduces key terms and definitions. I refer you to the ISO 56000 standard for the complete terms and definitions, but I have extracted the important terms and will explain them.
Lesson 1 concludes with a sample of the type of quiz in the chapters ahead.
